-City of Glass pg 138
There he was. Standing there. Begging for it. Just like I’d always hoped. Just inches separated his face from mine. All I had to do was lean forward...
A slight gentle brush at first, just barely a touch of lips on lips; a butterfly kiss. Then, a harder pressure, the space between us closing until it felt like we would fall into each other. This was nothing like kissing Magnus. Magnus had always been careful, treading water with me, waiting for the go-ahead before he started anything drastic. But Jace didn’t care about any of that. Jace pushed me farther than I’d ever even hoped to go. My hands wound in his hair, soft as silk and golden between my fingers. His hands slid up and down my torso, emitting a guttural sound from deep in my throat.
And then, it was over. Jace pulled back and we stood, staring at each other, panting, gasping for air. I knew my cheeks were flooded pink and my eyes shocked, but his golden eyes, the only eyes I saw when I dared to daydream, were smoldering and slightly amused.
“Interesting,” he said, his voice betraying nothing, “love does make us liars.”
